Determination of the solubility of cinnamic acid in methanol via the Density method while following protocol of
Create a mixture of 5g of Cinnamic Acid and 11mL of methanol within a test tube. Place the mixture within a water bath between 45-50C until the solution dissolves (the solid will not dissolve completely). Transfer the supernatant into another test tube and place the test tube within a water bath at room temperature for several minutes. Using a volumetric flask obtain the weight of pure methanol using a balance pan. Then take the methanol solution out of the water bath, decant it into the same volumetric flask and record the weight of the solution.

The concentration of cinnamic acid dissolved in methanol within a 1mL and 2mL volumetric flask was determined to be 1.37M and 1.32M respectively.

The solubility of cinnamic acid in methanol was found to be 1.274M at 24C in Exp229. Also, the solubility of cinnamic acid in methanol was to range from 1.2-1.38M in
. The results from this experiment show agreement with the results from the other experiments.
The solubility of cinnamic acid in methanol at 23C was determined to be 1.32-1.37M. This is consistent with the results found from Exp229 and previous experiments.

14:18 Temperature of the water containing the supernatant is still at 23C. 1mL of supernatant was weighed within the flask + cap to be 50.0404g. 2mL of supernatant was weighed within the flask + cap to be 20.6670g.
