Procedure:
1.Pour 20mL of methanol into a 50mL beaker.
2. Dissolve phthalic acid until saturated – a little bit of phthalic acid remains undissolved.
3. Pour the dissolved solution into four small test tubes and centrifuge for 2 minutes.
4. Pour all of the solution – from the four test tubes – into a 10mL graduated cylinder to measure the volume.
5. Weigh the small empty vial that will be used as a vessel for evaporation.
6. Add the solution to the vial and obtain the weight.
7. Heat up some water in a 150mL beaker.
8. Evaporate vial until no liquid remains.
9. Weigh the vial and its contents.
10. Leave overnight to dry and weight the vial and its contents again.
