Procedure:

To determine how soluble vanillin, is in ethanol 20mL of ethanol was added to a 250mL beaker. Vanillin, which act as the solute was added to the beaker that contained 20mL of ethanol until the solution became saturated. To remove the excess solute, 5mL of the solution was pour into four labeled centrifuge tubes. Centrifuge tube labeled 1 and 2 was spent together while 3 and 4 was spent together for about five minutes. After solution was centrifuged the solution were pour in to four labeled and weighed vials. Each vial plus the solution was weighed and then put into hot water bath four about 40mins. After removing the vials from the hot water bath they were left to cool. The vials were then weighed. To ensure accurate recording of the solute it was left overnight and weighed the next day.
