Objective

To measure the solubility of 2,6-dicholobenzaldehyde in benzene and DMSO using SAMS method. [also do density method to compare JCB]

Procedure: [should not have colon JCB]

There were 4 vials made. 2 of them were a saturated solution of 2,6-dicholobenzaldehyde in benzene and the other 2 were a saturated solution of 2,6-dicholobenzaldehyde [spelling JCB] in DMSO. All vials were parafilmed and vortexed. Then they were placed in the temperature controlled thermostat

17:15 Turn on the temperature contol bath and set it to 46 C
17:20 Labeled four 1 dram screw cap vials 1-4. [Are you sure these are 1 dram and not 0.5 dram? JCB]
17:25 Placed 2,6-dicholobenzaldehyde into the vials.
17:30 Pipetted out a small volume of benzene into vials 1 and 2. Vortexed the vials for about a minute and made sure some of the solid remained undissolved.
17:35 Pipetted out a small volume of DMSO into vials 3 and 4. Vortexed the vials for about a minute and made sure some of the solid remained undissolved.
17:45 Parafilmed all the vials tightly.
17:51 Placed the vials into a temprature controlled water bath at 46 C
18:09 Temperature changed in the thermostat water bath to 25 C. 2,6-dicholobenzaldehyde in all 4 vials had dissolved at 46 C
